چکیده
Electrolysis with renewable electricity of water leads to hydrogen, which may be used directly as an energy carrier. However, storage of pure hydrogen is a technical challenge and requires a significant economic investment. The reduction of CO2 with hydrogen leads to hydrocarbons, which are for longer chains liquids at room temperature and easy to store. The electrochemical reduction of CO2 in aqueous solution allows to split water and directly reduce the adsorbed CO2 to hydrocarbons at room temperature.
